Justin O’Connor is Professor of Communications and Cultural Economy in the School of Media Film and Journnalism, Monash University. He is also visiting chair in the School of Media and Design, Cultural Industries Management Department, Shanghai Jiaotong University. Justin is also establishing a joint research unit in Global Cultural Economy with Shanghai Jiaotong University. Justin is leading a three-year ARC project Working the field: Creative Graduates in Melbourne and Shanghai, looking at early career trajectories of creative graduates in the field of visual arts, creative writing and music. He is also leading the 'creative cities' element of an ARC linkage project Towards a New Bilbao Effect, looking at the impact of the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) in Tasmania, led by University of Tasmania and local state and cities. He previously led an ARC Linkage program on Designing Creative Clusters in Australia and China.
Mark Andrejevic (Professor, School of Media, Film, and Journalism, Monash University) contributes expertise in the social and cultural implications of data mining, and online monitoring. He writes about monitoring and data mining from a socio-cultural perspective, and is the author of three monographs and more than 60 academic articles and book chapters. He was the Chief Investigator for an ARC QEII Fellowship investigating public attitudes toward the collection of personal information online ($390,000; 2010-2014).
Andrejevic has experience conducting both quantitative and qualitative research and is experienced in the focus group and interview methodologies. His work on the personal information project, for example, generated a book, 11 articles and book chapters, and a report on Australian attitudes toward online privacy that was launched by the Federal Privacy Commissioner.
